Reed Is Home!

The puppy is here!!

The trip wasn’t bad. We left around 5:30 am and stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast at 6:00 am. We got to see all the junk including this impressive Alan Jackson themed table. Also got to enjoy my first (and second, and third) Valomilk. OH MY GOD. Yum.

On the way up, we stopped at a “Scenic Turnout” to let Sadie potty. Apparently this is what passes for “scenic” in Oklahoma. πŸ˜‰

We finally got to the breeder’s house around 1:30 pm. Reed and the boy they kept were the only ones left, everyone else had picked up their baby already. His brother is handsome — but he is more handsome! πŸ™‚ We got a goodie bag with food, treats and a toy!

Sadie wasn’t feeling well from the trip, but we let her run around and experience her first snow! She did good with the puppies. She wasn’t at all interested in playing, but she tolerated them at least. Reed REALLY wanted to play with her, but hopefully in a few days she’ll be willing to try playing.

We got loaded up in the car and headed home! After about 20 minutes of whining and squirming, he finally accepted the fact that he was not allowed in the driver’s lap, and fell asleep in mine. πŸ™‚ After a while, we had to stop for people and dog potty breaks. We also played with our new favorite toys!

Reed was the center of attention at the rest stop! A family from TX stopped to pet him, and he did AMAZING with the kids! One of the kids wasn’t sure how to pet a dog, and kept diveboming and poking him – Reed just sat there and licked his hand. Perfect! He didn’t jump on anyone either!

We finally got home at 9:00, and let him explore the apartment for a bit before bedtime.

He was NOT happy about the crate! I know he’s been sleeping in a crate but I guess being away from his dog family and his people family was just too much. He cried a few times through the night, but did pretty good overall. Better than I was expecting. Kyle seemed surprised at how loud he was. Let’s hope he gets the crate training down quickly πŸ™‚

This morning we got up and went to work! Until he’s ready to come to PetSmart with me, he’ll just be going to my morning job. Reed is pretty whiny sometimes! If he’s not being petted or sleeping, he whines! I’m hoping he outgrows that as he becomes more comfortable with us. He made some new friends, and napped a lot. He did very well in the office.

He had his first trip to the vet, and slept through most of it πŸ™‚

I love my new little boy! Can’t wait to get to know him better. Right now he pretty much SLEEPS. πŸ™‚
